Every video we take in to our editing facility is handled with the utmost care every step of the way. We work with you to visualize the desired end result and then set our skilled video editing specialists to the task.
Follow us through our process!
We take your raw, untouched footage and import it into our canvas where we begin to apply our creative talents. Before the footage can even be worked on, it has to be transcoded into a workable file format in order for our editors to begin slicing it into a story. Transcoding is a direct digital-to-digital data conversion encoding video files from one codec to another. Essentially we compress the raw footage into workable portions that we can then proceed to edit into the video you want.
Once we have the footage our editors follow the final script that was approved, using only the best takes and most stunning shots available. It’s this part of the video editing process that weaves together the story you want to tell in a way that appeals to your viewing audience.
Once we put together a rough cut, we send it to you for your approval and from there either revisions are made or we move to the next step of the video editing process, graphic design. If you want your video to stand out, you need to have astounding graphics to highlight important points within your video. Melding graphics with the video in a visually appealing fashion is an editing ability we’re proud of. Our art director, motion graphist and editors work closely with each other to create consistent graphics with your current branding and blend them seamlessly with the video.
After the graphics have been added, the video is then processed through audio mixing. Editing audio is required on every video but because decibel levels, channels and speeds can be different between each audio track, the audio must be mixed together to produce the smooth sound you’re used to hearing on high-end productions. Any sound effects, music, or voice tracks are blended together in this stage of video editing to give your video atmosphere and depth.
Finally your video is ready for the final stage of the editing process, finishing. This is where your video is transformed into a pristine end product. All the cuts are smoothed over, all the graphics are added in, the mixed audio tracks are laid down and the video is treated for colour correction. This is one of the most important steps taken in the editing process to give your video a professional look and feel and earning you the respect of your viewing audience.
How is video editing different from commercial editing?
Video editing and commercial editing, while very similar, are handled differently. Each project is unique of course but commercials tend to follow similar guidelines, such as being limited to 30 or 60 seconds, selling and featuring products and services, having to get legal approval etc. Videos on the other hand are much more flexible. There’s no set length, you don’t have to have adhere to legal standards, and usually you know your audience on a personal level. Other than that both video editing and commercial editing are handled almost the exact same way. Regardless of which one you choose, you can be assured the end result will be a professional high-end video pieced together with the greatest of care.
